Digital Media Production Manager

The Digital Media Production Manager leads the university's multimedia team in creating high-quality video and photographic content for academic, marketing, and institutional purposes. This leadership position oversees all aspects of digital media production while working closely with their creative team. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in videography and photography with strong leadership abilities, strategic planning skills, and a vision for advancing the university's visual storytelling capabilities.

 

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Creative and Digital Content, this role is responsible for developing and implementing the university's digital media strategy, supervising production staff, managing departmental resources, and ensuring all multimedia content meets institutional standards for quality and accessibility.

The Digital Media Production Manager plays a crucial role in elevating the university's visual presence and enhancing its educational mission through compelling multimedia content. This position offers the opportunity to shape the institution's digital media strategy while leading a talented team of creative professionals.

 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Supervise and mentor video producers, photographers, and production assistants

  • Establish clear goals, workflows, and quality standards for the digital media department

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities

  • Lead team meetings and coordinate project assignments based on departmental priorities

  • Manage departmental budget and equipment resources

Strategic Planning

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive digital media strategy aligned with university goals

  • Establish style guides and technical standards for all video and photographic content

  • Identify emerging trends in digital media and implement innovative approaches

  • Collaborate with academic departments to create effective multimedia learning resources

  • Analyze performance metrics and adapt strategies to maximize content effectiveness

Production Oversight

  • Oversee the full production cycle for high-priority video and photography projects

  • Review and approve creative concepts, storyboards, and final deliverables

  • Ensure all content meets accessibility standards and complies with university policies

  • Coordinate cross-departmental collaborations for major institutional projects

  • Participate in shoots for high-profile events and specialized projects as needed

Department Operations

  • Manage production scheduling and resource allocation for maximum efficiency

  • Oversee equipment maintenance, upgrades, and procurement

  • Implement systems for content management, archiving, and distribution

  • Develop and maintain production protocols and safety standards

  • Prepare regular reports on department activities, accomplishments, and metrics

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Master's degree in Film Production, Media Studies, Communications, or related field

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in digital media production

  • At least 5 years of experience in a management or supervisory role

  • Proven track record of leading creative teams and managing complex multimedia projects

  • Experience in higher education environment preferred

 

Technical Skills

  • Expert knowledge of video and photography production techniques

  • Advanced proficiency with industry-standard editing software (Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro)

  • Strong understanding of digital content distribution platforms and analytics

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards for multimedia content

  • Experience with project management tools and production management systems
