Job Title:           Exam Proctor - Per Diem

Department:     Academic Affairs

Reports To:       Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs & Accreditation

SUMMARY:

This position assists in the administration of internal and external placement tests and course exams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proctor a variety of tests, including but not limited to:  COMSAE, COMAT and other internal and external course exams.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all testing materials, sign-out logs and other test documents.
  • Control admission to and from the testing room and ensure adherence to testing policy on permitted vs. prohibited items
  • Maintain a quiet atmosphere appropriate for testing and monitor students during testing sessions to ensure a secure testing environment and prevent cheating
  • Assist in the distribution and collection of test material
  • Report suspected irregularities to the testing coordinator
  • Prepare documentation of cheating or dishonesty to assist in student discipline process.
  • Return testing materials to the appropriate instructors, agencies, or other Colleges/Universities, as needed
  • Work with faculty and administrative assistants to have the information/materials for exams in a timely manner.
  • Develop testing schedules that fit the needs of staff, faculty, students, and outside agencies.
  • Work with students who have need of special accommodations, including but not limited to reading tests, scribing tests, or providing a special testing climate.
  • Possess strong people skills and have the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing and to follow written instructions.
  • Must be comfortable with dealing with difficult people and situations.
  • Must be on time and dependable; reliability is essential.
  • Able to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with large number of students, faculty and staff
  • Knowledge and understanding of the organization and its goals, objectives, policies and procedures
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include some potential evening assignments
  • Understands and adheres to Rowan’s compliance standards as they appear in Rowan Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  

Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Work experience may be considered in lieu of education.  General knowledge of computer operations and functions is required.  Knowledge of Google calendar, Banner and relevant software preferred.
