Rowan Online Success Coach

Position Summary

The Rowan Online Success Coach will empower students throughout their academic journey by providing personalized guidance, motivation, and support from enrollment confirmation through graduation. This role involves proactive outreach to assist students in navigating the online learning environment, understanding academic requirements, connecting with the Rowan University community, and overcoming potential barriers to ensure their ongoing success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Conduct proactive outreach to Rowan Online students, fostering engagement, well-being, and academic planning with a student first approach.

· Manage a group of assigned students in any/all Rowan Online degree and certificate programs, prioritizing communication efforts to ensure their academic well-being.

· Communicate frequently with assigned students via phone calls, email, text, and virtual meetings.

· Provide holistic support that empowers students to navigate academic, personal, and career challenges by promoting effective study and time management habits, fostering a sense of belonging, encouraging goal-setting, and guiding them in developing the skills and mindset needed for long-term success.

· Encourage and motivate students to persist in their academic journey.

· Serve as a concierge for all student resources, connecting students at the right time with academic, financial, and personal support services.

· Provide personalized degree planning, proactive registration assistance, and other process assistance to ensure timely progress toward graduation, in accordance with university policies and academic program requirements.

· Immediately act as a bridge from the admissions process to first-term registration for Rowan Online students, upon time of confirmation of enrollment.

· Provide preliminary estimates of transfer credit for new transfer students, guiding these students toward first-term schedules that take past credit into account while awaiting official evaluation.

· Leverage reports and dashboards to tailor outreach strategies and identify and assist at-risk students.

· Accurately document all interactions with students in the system of record.

· Coordinate and participate in student engagement efforts, such as orientation sessions and academic success programs, tailored to the needs of prospective and current online students.

· Represent Rowan University at recruitment events, webinars, and other student engagement events.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

· 1 year of experience in academic advising, counseling, student success, or student affairs, preferably in a higher education setting. Additional education in a relevant field may substitute for the required experience. Experience in highly interactive online service environments is also valued.

· Ability to thrive in an environment featuring advanced technology, frequent use of data, growth, change, and a high volume of student interaction.

Preferred Qualifications

· Master's degree in higher education, counseling, student affairs, or a related field.

· Experience working with non-traditional, adult, and/or online students in a university environment.

· Technologically adept, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and platforms used for student support and advising.

· Familiarity with online student success theory and research, coaching frameworks, and best practices.

· Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

· Demonstration of customer service skills.

· Proficiency with student information systems, CRM platforms, and advising tools (e.g., Starfish, Banner).

Work Environment & Expectations

This position is based at Rowan Online’s dynamic and interactive team hub, located in downtown Glassboro, NJ. Rowan Online Success Coaches thrive in our contemporary collaborative workspace, intentionally designed to facilitate meaningful connections and innovative thinking. In addition to the synergistic work environment, this role is eligible to participate in Rowan's Flexible Work Arrangement (hybrid work) policy. To ensure exceptional support for our online learners, in-office and remote days follow a consistent pattern, with regular adjustments for strategic meetings and special events. This student-centered role occasionally requires evening and weekend hours, along with occasional local travel to provide diverse engagement opportunities with Rowan Online’s learning community.

Salary & Benefits

In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is AFT: Range 21 $61,674.63 to $70,933.34, with placement within the range determined by candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors.

For eligible employees, benefits include: comprehensive NJ State health, dental and retirement benefits, extensive accrued time off/paid holidays, and tuition reimbursement for employee, spouse, and dependents to attend Rowan University, Glassboro. (Tuition reimbursement will apply to undergraduate degrees only for spouse and dependents).”
