The Shop Pantry & Resource Center is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Rowan University students. With a particular focus on addressing issues of food insecurity, The Shop offers a range of support services that can connect students in need with appropriate on campus and community resources. The purpose of The Shop is to provide a broad spectrum of free and confidential services to any matriculated Rowan University student as needed. The resources and programs made available to students are intended to assist with basic life needs, which include food and housing services. Students will also have the opportunity to learn about more intensive support on campus or in the community.

Duties:

• Overall operation management of The Shop.
• Maintain correspondence with donors and business partners.
• Monitor The Shop budget.
• Assist with the development, documentation and implementation of operational procedures for the campus food pantry.
• Open and manage day to day operations of food pantry according to procedures of operation.
• Greet, orient and escort customers through pantry. Provide a welcoming atmosphere.
• Refer customers to on and off campus resources as needed.
• Train and manage volunteers to staff the food pantry.
• Monitor intake donation tracking system and assist with compiling data.
• Transport students to food supply partnering programs.
• Collaborate with University administrators and other department staff to plan/implement programs and services that support the food pantry mission, vision and strategic plan.
• Work with program staff to inform the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and special projects related to the food pantry.
• Ensuring safety practices guidelines and policies are followed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
• Participate in special projects as requested.
• Order, inventory and stock all pantry areas and document items to be restocked.
• Assist with marketing and advertising of the services of The Shop services through print and social media.
• Communicate pertinent information to volunteers and client services staff.
• Other duties as assigned by executive director or supervisor.

Rate: $18 per hour

Hours:

  • This temporary, part-time position is assigned no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week. Work hours cannot exceed 25 hours per week and 944 hours per fiscal year. The work is contracted annually to coincide with the fiscal year and is contingent upon budget appropriation.

Notes:

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US, and the university will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.

License Requirement:
  • Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey.
