The Associate Dean of Students will be a driving force in shaping the student experience in the Ric Edelman College of Communication, Humanities, and Social Sciences. This role will champion initiatives that promote student success, retention, and career readiness—ensuring every student has access to high-quality experiential learning, a strong sense of belonging, and clear pathways to meaningful careers. By fostering collaborations between faculty, staff, community partners, and employers, the Associate Dean will directly influence the College’s ability to graduate engaged, well-prepared, and socially responsible leaders.

Position Summary:
The Associate Dean of Students serves as one of two senior student affairs officers for the Ric Edelman College, providing leadership for student engagement, experiential learning, and student support services. This position works across academic and administrative units to align co-curricular programming with the College’s educational mission and the university’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

Student Affairs & Support

  • Lead student affairs functions, including academic adjustments, registration issues, student travel, and grievance resolution.
  • Manage policies related to student progression, appeals, and academic integrity.
  • Serve as a point of contact for faculty on policy questions or concerns.

Experiential & Co-Curricular Learning

  • Support experiential learning, internships, service-learning, and applied learning opportunities across all departments, in collaboration with the Center for Student Success.
  • Develop and implement student activities and co-curricular programs that promote retention, belonging, and career readiness.

Partnerships & Engagement

  • Build partnerships with employers, nonprofits, government, and community organizations to expand student opportunities.
  • Help foster partnerships with other colleges and community colleges.
  • Coordinate with the College and student advisory boards.
  • Represent the college at university committees and public events.

Collaboration & Alignment

  • Work with faculty to develop programmatic structures and strategies.
  • Collaborate with the University Advising Center, Academic Success Center, Dean of Students, and other offices to align student support and retention initiatives.

Policy, Assessment & Reporting

  • Develop and implement policies, assessment strategies, and reports to ensure continuous improvement in student engagement and career readiness outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in a related field.
  • 3–5 years of academic leadership experience.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with the leadership team of the College, faculty, staff, and university partners to achieve shared goals.
  • Demonstrated success in building partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to Access, Fairness, and Respect.

Salary & Benefits:
In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 and 175,000. When extending any salary offer, Rowan University considers many factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, work experience, education, training, key skills, internal equity, as well as market and other organizational considerations.

For eligible employees, benefits include: comprehensive NJ State health, dental and retirement benefits, extensive accrued time off/paid holidays, and tuition reimbursement for employee, spouse, and dependents to attend Rowan University, Glassboro.
