Associate Dean, Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering

The Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering at Rowan University seeks a dynamic and innovative leader to serve as Associate Dean. This position supports the smooth and efficient operations of the College and serves as proxy for the Dean as required, while ensuring that academic policies and practices are efficiently implemented. The Associate Dean collaborates with faculty, staff, students and external stakeholders to fulfill the College’s mission.

A hallmark of the College includes teamwork in a multidisciplinary environment. The Associate Dean will provide leadership that operationalizes this approach while ensuring that strategic initiatives that further College goals are being executed successfully.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Leadership

  • Development and implementation of new academic programs of strategic importance to the College’s future growth. The focus is on revenue generation and programs that center on industry participation, and across the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. spectrum. Program development with 3+1 and 2+2 academic partners are included in this activity. The maintenance of these programs is also part of the responsibilities.

  • Lead in assessment activities that promote academic excellence and growth, including but not limited to curriculum development and program evaluation.

  • Provide leadership and coordination of ABET accreditation activities for all programs across the College.

  • Collaborate with departments to develop strategies that will improve student retention and graduation rates. Partner with other units on campus to satisfy university retention and graduation goals.

Student Recruiting

  • Lead student recruiting activities for the College in collaboration with the Division of Strategic Enrollment Management and Admissions Office.

  • Manage first-year and transfer student recruiting, along with implementing strategies and activities which promote and sustain its success.
  • Provide leadership and representation in K-12 activities and Community College partnerships.

Student Affairs Leadership

  • Work collaboratively with offices within the University including but not limited to Registrar’s Office, Bursar’s Office, Financial Aid and Scholarship Office, Public Safety, Facilities, Environmental Health & Safety, Card Services, etc., to efficiently perform College business.

  • Liaison with Information Resources & Technology in support of state-of-the-art delivery in engineering education.

  • Foster an inclusive and supportive environment for faculty, staff, and students in undergraduate education.

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in engineering or a closely related field.

  • A distinguished record of research and scholarship.

  • Experience with undergraduate education and student advising.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in new program development.

  • Knowledge of trends and challenges in engineering education and research.

Salary & Benefits:

In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $150,000.00 to $185,000.00 When extending any salary offer, Rowan University considers many factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, work experience, education, training, key skills, internal equity, as well as market and other organizational considerations.  

For eligible employees, benefits include: comprehensive NJ State health, dental and retirement benefits, extensive accrued time off/paid holidays, and tuition reimbursement for employee, spouse, and dependents to attend Rowan University, Glassboro. (Tuition reimbursement will apply to undergraduate degrees only for spouse and dependents).”
