The Director of Market Insights will oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of market intelligence to support institutional priorities across recruitment marketing, academic program development, portfolio strategy, and brand positioning. This position will be instrumental in transforming complex data into actionable insights that enhance Rowan’s competitive positioning in the higher education landscape. 

 Key Responsibilities: 

  • Recruitment marketing  

  • Oversee audience segmentation for recruitment marketing  

  • Identify and define target audience segments to support enrollment marketing campaigns 

  • Provide data-driven recommendations to optimize messaging, channel strategy, and creative direction 

  • Develop and manage internal and external survey projects to understand prospective student motivations, brand perception, and market trends 

  • Partner with Institutional Research and Enrollment Management to triangulate insights 

  • Labor Market Information 

  • Analyze national and regional labor market data to inform academic program development and refinement 

  • Collaborate with academic and enrollment leaders to align programs with workforce needs and emerging industry trends 

  • Leverage LMI to inform content strategy and creation 

  • Identify career outcomes of alumni to inform content strategy and creation 

  • Program Portfolio Optimization 

  • Guide portfolio management decisions by identifying high-demand fields, growth opportunities, competitive benchmarks, and low performing programs  

  • Oversee market feasibility reporting to support new program proposals 

  • Assess program quality in comparison to market offerings  

  • Vendor management 

  • Oversee relationship with key research partners, including Hanover, EAB, and ENCOURA/Eduventures 

  • Serve as the primary liaison for external research vendors (e.g., Hanover, EAB, Lightcast, Encoura/Eduventures), managing project scopes, deliverables, and institutional priorities. 

  • Monitor brand presence  

  • Track Rowan’s brand presence and share of voice in key markets 

  • Benchmark against peer institutions and monitor shifts in the competitive landscape 

  • Industry Trends 

  • Stay current on industry trends in higher education, workforce development, and digital marketing 

  • Deliver clear, concise reports and presentations to university leadership and cross-functional teams  

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business analytics, economics, communications, higher education, or related field. 

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in higher education marketing 

  • Minimum of 8 years in market research, analytics, or strategic marketing, preferably in higher education. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in analyzing and interpreting labor market data (e.g., Lightcast, BLS). 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in business, or related field. 

  • Familiarity with higher education vendors and research partners (Hanover, EAB, Encoura/Eduventures). 

  • Ability to work cross departmentally, to share insights with other teams  

  • Supervisor experience 

Salary & Benefits:

  • In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $99,000 to $115,500. When extending any salary offer, Rowan University considers many factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, work experience, education, training, key skills, internal equity, as well as market and other organizational considerations.

  • For eligible employees, benefits include comprehensive NJ State health, dental and retirement benefits, extensive accrued time off/paid holidays, and tuition reimbursement for employee, spouse, and dependents to attend Rowan University, Glassboro. (Tuition reimbursement will apply to undergraduate degrees only for spouse and dependents).
