Job Title:        Senior Associate Dean of Finance, Virtua Health College

Job Essentials:

Directs and manages the financial affairs of the Virtua Health College to include the School of Osteopathic Medicine, including the Rowan Medicine Practice Plans; the Rowan-Virtua Translational Biomedical Engineering and Sciences School, and the Rita & Larry Salva School of Nursing & Health Professions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 Functions as the College's representative to University Administration, affiliated institutions, and other external organizations when appropriate regarding the College’s financial interest and position.

  1. Directs long range and annual financial budgeting and planning activities in coordination with University Administration.
  2. Develops, implements, and assesses financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with University policies and procedures and appropriate support of the College's education, research, and patient care missions. 
  1. Oversees all financial and budgetary activities of the College designed to protect assets, meet reporting requirements and plan for its operational needs. 
  1. Responsible for the financial provisions of agreements with affiliate hospitals and other educational and health care institutions.
  2. Functions as the Vice-Chancellor's representative and advisor on financial matters related to the practice plan of the School of Osteopathic medicine. Evaluates the practice plan's financial performance and productivity and makes recommendations on organization and funds flow. Monitors and assesses the faculty practice plan's support of the College's mission and strategic needs. 
  3. Chairs the Finance Committee of the Executive Council to provide transparency of budgeting policies and practices; and make recommendations to the Vice Chancellor and the Executive Council.
  4. Serves as the VHC Finance liaison on the Operations Oversight Committee for Rowan and Virtua.
  5. Prepares financial reports with sufficient detail to assess the financial performance of the College and/or any of its departments and budgetary units. Communicates findings to University Administration to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  6. Reviews and analyzes proposals for new initiatives and provides the Vice Chancellor with an assessment of the potential benefits/disadvantages resulting from the acceptance or rejection of the proposal under review.
  7. Directs operations and manages of the VHC/SOM Budget Office and allocates resources to provide appropriate financial administrative support for the operations of the College.
  8. Understands and adheres to Rowan University compliance standards as they appear in Rowan University Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  9. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and University regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  10. Ensures that the staff are trained on and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, minimum education, training, licensure, experience and/or ability required.   • Master’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible management experience with at least (5) years at a university, government agency, or health care facility.
  • Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment.
  • Experience managing practice plan funds.
  • Ability to work within a non-standardized and widely varied context requiring the analysis and interpretation of diverse issues, procedures, and data methodological/analytical approaches.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Strong quantitative, qualitative and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to identify, understand and analyze problems by exercising judgment and logic.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, familiar with applicable data query/data management tools and able to create and interpret charts, graphs and tables.
  • Well organized self-directed leader who can prioritize and multi-task with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong financial systems experience and the ability to extract and massage financial data from those systems is critical.

Salary:

In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $157,500 to $183,750 . When extending any salary offer, Rowan University considers many factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, work experience, education, training, key skills, internal equity, as well as market and other organizational considerations.
