Job Summary:

Academic Support Programs within University College is seeking a part-time Academic Support Coordinator to aid in the implementation of the Academic Improvement Program and early intervention outreach. The person to fill this position would be asked to work in-person during normal business hours.  This position will report to the Assistant Director, Academic Support Programs and will be essential in helping students thrive by providing holistic support. Below is a list of the required job responsibilities and preferred qualifications of the Academic Support Coordinator:

Specific tasks, duties, and responsibilities:

  • Facilitate student meetings for the Academic Improvement Program, Rowan’s academic recovery program for students on Academic Notice

  • Assist with early intervention efforts for students with urgent flag items raised through our retention software system, the Rowan Success Network (RSN)

  • Support students and help them develop realistic goals and plans that will contribute to their academic success and overall well-being (using the six dimensions of Rowan Thrive)

  • Help students develop interpersonal communication skills, time management strategies, organization skills, and ability to set and achieve goals while having a sensitivity to mental health related concerns

  • Assess student progress toward goals and provide follow up as needed; maintain consistent and confidential records of student data

  • Develop and deliver workshops supporting student success and overall well-being

  • Possess a thorough understanding of campus resources, policies, and practices and ways to connect students to pertinent offices when necessary

  • Perform various forms of outreach including email, text messaging and phone calls

  • Ability to work successfully with diverse student populations including, but not limited to, first-generation, military, neurodivergent, low income, adult, and underrepresented individuals

  • Present to first-year classes about the services offered by Academic Support Programs

  • Provide front desk support when necessary

  • Engage in professional development opportunities, including staying current with student success related topics and initiatives

  • Assist with Open Houses, Accepted Student Receptions, Orientations, and other activities

  • Serve as a resource for the University community for programming initiatives

  • Position may require some evening and weekend activities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s Degree

  • One (1) year of professional experience

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling in Educational Settings, or other relevant field

  • Experience in academic advising, a college learning center, counseling, and/or academic support

  • Experience designing and facilitating academic skill-focused workshops for college students

  • Demonstrated background in helping meet the needs of diverse learners

  • Knowledge of Starfish and Banner online software systems 

Hours:

  • This temporary, part-time position is assigned no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week. Work is contracted annually to coincide with the fiscal year and is contingent upon budget appropriate.

Rate: $25-$27 per hour
