The College of the Arts is seeking a full-time Marketing and Communications Specialist to lead the development and execution of strategic marketing, branding and promotional initiatives to support the College’s three departments. As a key member of the College’s administrative leadership team, this position will interact regularly with faculty, staff, students and external vendors to ensure the timely, coordinated and polished delivery of a high volume of communications and marketing materials. This position will work to enhance the visibility and reputation of the College by overseeing events, outreach and integrated communications that promote the College’s identity and strategic messages to internal and external audiences, including prospective and current students, alumni, faculty and key stakeholders. 

Under the supervision of the Dean and in collaboration with College of the Arts leadership team members, the Marketing and Communication Specialist will: 

  • Develop, produce and manage integrated marketing and communications campaigns to support branding and development for the College’s mission, academic programs, performances and recruitment initiatives across print, digital, email and social media. 

  • Proactively promote the college by researching, developing and writing impactful stories that align with key messages and goals; collaborate with the University Communication team to write news releases and engage media outlets 

  • Design and manage promotional materials and activities to further development and recruitment including brochures, banners, fliers, newsletters, advertisements, etc. 

  • Manage social media accounts for the college and academic departments and provide trainings for faculty and student workers overseeing accounts   

  • Serve as the college’s Commencement Coordinator; work with University Events and Publications to prepare scripts, select commencement speaker(s), recruit volunteers, communicate with faculty and graduates, and on-site management of ceremony  

  • Serve as liaison to University Communications, Admissions and Advancement 

  • Design and purchase branded promotional items/giveaways 

  • Maintain active engagement in marketing and social media trends, best practices and advances relevant to marketing for the arts and higher education 

  • Manage a marketing budget in compliance with Rowan’s central budget, purchasing and accounts payable offices 

  • Participate in special projects and other related duties as assigned 

A successful candidate will have enthusiasm for and applicable experience in some combination of the following: 

  • Advertising 

  • Brand building 

  • Content creation 

  • Data analysis 

  • Integrated marketing campaigns 

  • Project management 

  • Public relations 

  • Social media 

  • Website content development  

  • Writing 

Preferred Characteristics: 

  • Writing and editing skills across formats including press releases, newsletters, website content, social media, reporting, speeches, etc.  

  • Demonstrated experience with project management and competence in managing multiple concurrent projects 

  • Knowledge of and ability to coordinate multiple social media platforms in an effective manner 

  • Experience working effectively with senior leadership teams 

  • Highly self-directed, organized and comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment 

  • Passion for performing arts a plus

Requirements: 

  • A degree in public relations, communications, marketing or related field 

  • 4+ years professional experience in communications, marketing or related field 

  • Agency experience preferred 

  • MA preferred

Salary:

In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is AFT: Range 21 ($63,833.24 to $73,416.00), with placement within the range determined by candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors. 

For internal applicants, salary is determined per the Pay Adjustment formula (NJAC 4A:3-4.9 & 4.10).
