Director, Student Success Analytics & Systems, University College

The Director of Student Success Analytics & Systems drives measurable improvements in student outcomes at Rowan University by leveraging data, technology, and assessment to inform strategy and enhance student support services. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean, University College, this role provides strategic oversight of analytics and systems initiatives that directly impact student retention, progression, and graduation. This position manages complex, technology-driven projects aimed at improving operational efficiency and student outcomes, and collaborates closely with Rowan Online, the Office of Institutional Research and Analytics (OIRA), Information Resources & Technology (IRT), and other University partners. The Director manages the University College Student Success Analytics & Systems organization and ensures that the team and their work is informed about and aligned with Rowan’s strategic initiatives and mission, including on a day-to-day basis as well as for larger-scale initiatives (e.g., MSCHE accreditation). The Director ensures that data systems and insights lead to actionable interventions, increased operational efficiency, and evidence-based improvements across University College. This role ensures alignment with institutional priorities, sets performance expectations, and ensures integrity and effective interpretation and reporting of data. The Director leads assessment initiatives for University College student support services and academic courses and programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of three or more professional staff to deliver timely, high-quality data and system solutions that directly improve student success outcomes.
  • Establish team performance goals aligned with University College priorities such as boosting student success outcomes for all students, improving advising impact, streamlining manual processes, and increasing student progression rates.
  • Collaborate with team members, UC and Rowan leadership, and student success professionals to identify operational gaps and implement data-driven solutions to improve service delivery and team experience, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Build capacity across the wider University College team through staff development focused on data fluency, technology adoption, and assessment.
  • Set priorities for and manage the team of AFT professionals that collects and analyzes institutional data related to student persistence, retention, and graduation.
  • Direct the collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting of data to identify trends and key drivers of student retention, persistence, and completion.
  • Collaborate with Institutional Research, IRT and other key partners to ensure data accuracy and alignment with university-wide reporting standards.
  • In conjunction with the Vice Chancellor/Dean, participate in decision-making processes regarding workload distribution, workflow efficiency, and departmental operations.
  • Design and lead comprehensive assessment strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of and establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for student support programs, academic courses, and programs in conjunction with UC offices and the University College Assessment Committee; translate assessment findings into clear, actionable recommendations to improve student support programming and outcomes.
  • In conjunction with University partners, lead or participate in the implementation, enhancement, and integration of student success technologies (e.g., EAB Starfish, Smart Plan, Degree Works, Tableau, Cognos, and Banner) to support real-time decision-making and student intervention.
  • Align technology solutions with strategic goals to streamline processes, reduce manual workload, and expand student engagement through digital tools.
  • Serve as a functional lead and liaison between University College and IRT, ensuring systems meet evolving needs and support a personalized student experience.
  • Manage new system rollouts and upgrades and support the evaluation and selection of new tools and platforms.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of higher education experience, with progressive responsibilities related to data analytics, student success, and assessment
  • Demonstrated success in leading large-scale efforts in the student success analytics and systems domain
  • Demonstrated experience working with student information systems and reporting tools such as Starfish, Degree Works, Tableau, Cognos, and Banner preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working with analytics platforms and assessment tools.
  • Proven ability to present data clearly and professionally to maximize its clarity, accessibility, usability, and impact
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience handling confidential data with discretion and integrity.
  • Proficiency in assessment procedures and best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, manage, analyze, visualize, interpret, and present a broad range of data and information clearly and effectively
  • Ability to successfully prioritize and facilitate multiple projects and deadlines independently
  • Successful experience building collaborative partnerships within a wide variety of campus constituencies
  • Understanding of student success indicators and methods to investigate and address differential outcomes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including explanation of technical content to technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team
  • Creative and adaptive problem-solving skills

In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $110,000 to $135,000. When extending any salary offer, Rowan University considers many factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, work experience, education, training, key skills, internal equity, as well as market and other organizational considerations.

For eligible employees, benefits include: comprehensive NJ State health, dental and retirement benefits, extensive accrued time off/paid holidays, and tuition reimbursement for employee, spouse, and dependents to attend Rowan University, Glassboro. (Tuition reimbursement will apply to undergraduate degrees only for spouse and dependents).”
