The Admissions Counselor for Rowan Online supports all stages of the recruitment and admissions process to drive applications for, and enrollments in, Rowan Online academic programs. Reporting to the Director of Online Admissions, the Admissions Counselor is responsible for engaging in all aspects of admission and recruitment efforts including prospective student outreach and ongoing consultation, as well as participation in a range of in-person and virtual recruitment activities.
This is a part-time position, working up to 25 hours per week and not to exceed 944 hours in a fiscal year. Work schedule flexibility, including occasional evenings and weekends, may be required based on recruitment cycles and event needs. The Admissions Counselor will support efforts to achieve critical University enrollment goals by collaborating with academic program coordinators, members of the marketing team, and peers across Rowan Online.
The Admissions Counselor will gain expertise around an assigned portfolio of Rowan Online programs to recruit and support prospective graduate and undergraduate online students from across the country. Recruitment activities include individual and group presentations; coordinating with recruitment partners to ensure accurate and seamless representation of Rowan University; holding virtual and in-person student engagement activities; and representing Rowan University to prospective students and influencers at regional and national events. The Admissions Counselor will serve as an advocate for the online student population at Rowan University, participating in committees and related professional association activities as appropriate within part-time scope.
Responsibilities:
● Engage prospective online students and applicants across all communication channels to promote Rowan University, provide information on available programs, and assist through the admission process.
● Provide prospective students and applicants with information about online degree programs, relevant admissions requirements and eligibility, financial aid and other funding resources, and anticipated resulting career opportunities.
● Process and review application materials including transcripts, resumes, certifications, licensures, essays, and test scores.
● Evaluate current recruitment techniques and recommend additional best practices.
● Provide support and guidance pertaining to admissions to team members within Rowan Online departments.
● Help coordinate and participate in Rowan Online sponsored recruitment events.
● Help fulfill requests from departments for attendance at off-campus recruitment events and conferences, as schedule permits.
● Work with the Director of Online Admissions and marketing team to develop and optimize strategic communication and engagement plans.
● Collaborate with academic coordinators to develop recruitment strategies and provide updates on enrollment data.
● Accurately update student records through Rowan’s Information Systems.
● Provide reports to the Director of Online Admissions detailing results of outreach and campaign efforts.
● Comply with federal and/or state laws and regulations, including FERPA.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor's Degree
● Minimum two years of experience in university admissions, recruitment, or enrollment management.
● Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
● Ability to work independently, take initiative, as well as work as a team member.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present dynamically to a variety of constituencies.
● Demonstrated effectiveness authoring clear, concise, grammatically- and factually correct correspondence.
● Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents in support of campus and department missions.
● Exceptional listening and comprehension skills, with strong interpersonal skills.

● Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
● Willingness and ability to travel locally.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience working with non-traditional, online, and adult-learner undergraduate students and graduate students.
● Knowledge of the Slate CRM system.
● Experience with CRM and Student Information Systems data resources preferred.
Physical Requirements:
● Ability to move around the College building and campus, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs for extended periods.
● Occasionally lifting and carrying materials, such as books, reports, or small equipment (typically up to 25 pounds).
Rate: $24 per hour
Hours:
- This temporary, part-time position is assigned no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and is not to exceed 944 hours per fiscal year. Work is contracted annually to coincide with the fiscal year and is contingent upon budget appropriations.
