Position Summary:

The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine at Rowan University invites applications for Veterinary Clinical Skills Educator.  Faculty in this position will be involved in planning, developing, and delivering the clinical skills education classes, activities and assessments in the pre-clinical curriculum as part of the team of faculty and veterinary technicians, and will also collaborate with preclinical and clinical faculty and outside partners.   

The clinical veterinary skills faculty educator will report to the Director of Veterinary Clinical Skills and will be expected to develop training activities, protocols, and assessments to be used in skills training on models and live animal skills training. The successful candidate will also have an important role in helping design and deliver content in the pre-clinical case-based Integrations course and the Professional Skills course. Opportunities for rotating into clinical services may be allotted based on interest and need.

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • Plan, support, and deliver clinical skills training in the pre-clinical curriculum with faculty and staff
  • Develop and deliver essential skills-training activities, including assessments
  • Provide constructive and timely feedback to veterinary students to enable the development of skills mastery
  • Coordinate with outside partners for live animal handling activities
  • Review and analyze resources (including educational literature and other veterinary programs) to explore new developments to ensure best practices for clinical skill education
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop state-of-the-art clinical skills programming
  • Foster a friendly and collegial learning environment, promoting collaboration and excellence in education
  • Sustain an environment that fosters teamwork, diversity, and excellence
  • Perform other related duties or projects as assigned to support the SSVM mission.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree
  • Minimum three years in clinical practice
  • Experience/training in clinical education (e.g. hosting DVM externs)
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain licensure as a Veterinarian in the State of New Jersey.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience/advanced degree in education
  • Minimum 5 years in clinical practice in either small animal, mixed animal, or production animal clinical practice
  • Interest and experience in hand-tool use and/or educational models development

 

Salary Range:

In compliance with the State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $105,000 to $125,000. When extending any salary offer, Rowan University considers many factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, work experience, education, training, key skills, internal equity, as well as market and other organizational considerations.

The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine is located on the Glassboro, New Jersey west campus, 22 miles southeast of Philadelphia. The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine admitted its first class of DVM students in 2025. Facilities include an academic teaching facility aimed at the delivery of pre-clinical training, a small animal teaching hospital, and a research facility.
