This position is based at Rowan Online dynamic and interactive team hub, located in downtown Glassboro, NJ. Rowan Online Success Coaches thrive in our contemporary collaborative workspace, intentionally designed to facilitate meaningful connections and innovative thinking. To ensure exceptional support for our online learners, in-office and remote days follow a consistent pattern, with regular adjustments for strategic meetings and special events. This student-centered role occasionally requires evening and weekend hours, along with occasional local travel to provide diverse engagement opportunities with Rowan Online learning community.

As an Instructional Prep Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting faculty during course preparation cycles by ensuring online courses are technically prepared, properly configured, and aligned with institutional standards before each academic term begins. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with instructors, instructional designers, and program leadership to enhance course readiness and improve the overall online learning experience for Rowan students.

What will you be doing?
- Provide high-quality technical and customer support to faculty and students using online learning technologies.
- Work one-on-one with instructors to assist with the setup, configuration, and technical implementation of online course materials each academic term using the university’s Learning Management System and related instructional technologies.
- Support the preparation of online courses prior to the start of each term by ensuring course shells, materials, multimedia components, and learning activities are properly implemented and functioning.
- Collaborate with instructors and academic program coordinators to review course materials and facilitate updates or improvements during the course preparation period.
- Ensure that course design and technical implementation comply with federal regulations, New Jersey state requirements, and Rowan University standards for online education.
- Troubleshoot technical issues reported by faculty and students and coordinate solutions with appropriate university partners when necessary.
- Maintain documentation of course preparation processes, technical solutions, and project workflows to support operational continuity.
- Assist with additional projects and initiatives that support Rowan Online operations, digital learning innovation, and instructional technology improvements.
What do we require from you?
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Experience supporting users within a higher education environment utilizing online academic technologies.
- Proficiency with designing or supporting online courses within commercial Learning Management Systems such as Canvas by Instructure.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service and supporting faculty and students.
- Ability to work independently to resolve issues with minimal supervision.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with digital multimedia tools for online learning environments is preferred.
- Experience teaching online courses or supporting faculty training related to academic technology is preferred.
- Experience supporting small projects, training initiatives, or collaborative work groups is preferred.

Rate: $27-$30 per hour
Hours:
- This temporary, part-time position is assigned no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and is not to exceed 944 hours per fiscal year. Work is contracted annually to coincide with the fiscal year and is contingent upon budget appropriations.
