Anatomic Pathology Post Graduate Residency. The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine (SSVM) at Rowan University invites applications for one post-grad residency position in veterinary anatomic pathology that will begin July 1, 2027. The successful applicant will complete their diagnostic duty between the SSVM in Glassboro, NJ and the New Jersey Animal Health Diagnostic Laboratory (NJ AHDL) in Ewing under the primary guidance of 3 Rowan University ACVP-board certified anatomic pathologists with supplemental guidance from 2 NJ AHDL anatomic pathologists and 2 SSVM ACVP board-certified clinical pathologists.  Pathology residents will be eligible for ACVP board-certification upon completion of the program. 

Residents will gain experience through hands-on training through the NJ AHDL and will be exposed to cases from dogs, cats, horses, small ruminants, backyard poultry, exotics and marine mammals. Residents engage in gross rounds, microscopic pathology rounds, specialty rounds, and clinical pathology rounds. Residents are also encouraged to present at regional and national meetings, teach fourth-year veterinary students, and have opportunities to conduct small research projects aimed at peer-reviewed publication. 

SSVM is New Jersey’s first veterinary school with the inaugural DVM class starting in Fall 2025. A 167k square foot building houses a full-service small animal teaching hospital, an academic facility with lab and classroom space, as well as research laboratory space. Services provided will include primary care, emergency, anesthesia, cardiology, critical care, dermatology, dentistry, exotics, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, radiology, clinical pathology, anatomic pathology, and surgery.  

Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA accredited College of Veterinary Medicine and be eligible for a New Jersey veterinary license. Applications should include veterinary college transcripts, curriculum vitae, a statement of professional goals, three letters of recommendation, and class rank. The application deadline is October 28, 2026, or until a suitable candidate is identified. Candidates will be interviewed by Zoom. The starting salary is $45,000 with comprehensive university benefits. Residency Requirements

Rowan University is subject to the residency requirements of the NJ First Act (N.J.S.A. 52:14-7, P.L. 2011, Chapter 70). Any person hired to a non-exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey or have one (1) year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person hired to an exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York or have ninety (90) days from the date of employment to establish, then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York.

Note on STEM-OPT Employment
Please note that STEM OPT employment is not permitted at Rowan University. To be eligible for a STEM OPT extension, the student's employer must be registered in E-Verify and must use the system to verify all new employees. While Rowan University is registered in the E-Verify system, the University does not use the system to verify all new employees, only those that are working on a Federal Contract. This means that Rowan does not permit individuals to work at the University using a STEM OPT Employment Authorization Document as proof of US Work Authorization.

Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report is available on the Rowan University Police Department (RUPD), Clery Act webpage here. 

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as crime prevention, RUPD authority/jurisdiction, crime reporting policies, fire safety, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on all our campuses. The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University on-campus student housing facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years, including reported crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act or the "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Police Department.
