Candidates must possess a DVM or equivalent degree, be eligible for licensure in the State of New Jersey, and board-certified or board eligible in ACVAA. The successful candidate will be a founding faculty member of the SSVM and play an integral role in the development and delivery of an integrated veterinary curriculum constructed around organ systems. Service duties include clinical service for the SSVM teaching hospital. This 50,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility located on the Glassboro Campus provides both primary and specialized care for companion, food and fiber animals throughout New Jersey and surrounding states.
Creative scholarly activity is expected to advance the discipline of veterinary anesthesia/analgesia though the creation and dissemination of new knowledge, but the extent will depend on the candidate’s appointment and may include collaborative or independent research. The selected candidates will be integral in developing the Exotic Animal service within our new Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, currently under construction in Mullica Hill, NJ. The Exotic Animal department is responsible for exotic patient cases, hospital intakes and hospitalization of exotic animal patients. The new small animal teaching hospital is designed to accommodate multiple specialty departments including anesthesia, diagnostic imaging (with new GE CT and 3T MRI), dentistry and oral surgery, primary care, internal medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, cardiology, emergency/critical care, dermatology, and surgery, and a full pharmacy with sterile compounding capabilities.
The selected candidates will provide comprehensive veterinary care for exotic patients within the service. They will have direct responsibility for teaching and evaluation of both DVM and veterinary technology students, interns, and residents in the clinical setting. Didactic teaching of exotic animal medicine and surgery within the pre-clinical years and coordination of including hands-on training experiences during the 3rd year are essential components of the role.
Successful candidates will have demonstrated expertise in exotic animal medicine and surgery including completion of an Exotics residency program (ABVP-Companion Mammal, ABVP-Avian, ABVP-Reptile/Amphibian or ACZM) and be Board-Eligible or ABVP or ACZM Board-Certified. |
