The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University invites applications for a faculty position in Anesthesiology. This is a full-time, 12-month academic position at the rank of Instructor, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. Appointment may be in a tenure or clinical track depending on the qualifications and goals of the successful candidate.
Candidates must possess a DVM or equivalent degree, be eligible for licensure in the State of New Jersey, and board-certified or board eligible in ACVAA. The successful candidate will be a founding faculty member of the SSVM and play an integral role in the development and delivery of an integrated veterinary curriculum constructed around organ systems. Service duties include clinical service for the SSVM teaching hospital. This 50,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility located on the Glassboro Campus provides both primary and specialized care for companion, food and fiber animals throughout New Jersey and surrounding states.
Creative scholarly activity is expected to advance the discipline of veterinary anesthesia/analgesia though the creation and dissemination of new knowledge, but the extent will depend on the candidate’s appointment and may include collaborative or independent research. Specific tasks, duties, and responsibilities:
Facilitate student meetings for the Academic Improvement Program, Rowan’s academic recovery program for students on academic probation and academic warning.
Assist with early intervention efforts for students with urgent flag items raised through our retention software system, the Rowan Success Network (RSN).
Support students and help them develop realistic goals and success plans that will contribute to academic success and overall well-being (using the six dimensions of Rowan Thrive).
Help students develop interpersonal communication skills, time management strategies, organization skills, and ability to set and achieve goals while having a sensitivity to mental health issues.
Assess student progress toward goals and provide follow up as needed; maintain consistent and confidential records of student data.
Develop and deliver workshops supporting student success and overall well-being.
Possess a thorough understanding of campus resources, policies, and practices and ways to connect students to pertinent offices when necessary.
Ability to work successfully with diverse student populations including, but not limited to, first-generation, military, neurodivergent, low income, adult, and underrepresented individuals.
Engage in professional development opportunities, including staying current with student success related issues and initiatives.
Assist with Open Houses, Accepted Student Receptions, Orientations, and other activities.
Serve as a resource for the University community for programming initiatives.
Position may require some evening and weekend activities.

This position supports an important clinical service in the veterinary teaching hospital and significantly contributes to both client satisfaction and revenue generation. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive small animal dental specialty care to patients. They will have direct responsibility for teaching and evaluation of veterinary students, interns, and residents in the clinical setting. Teaching of dentistry and oral surgery within the pre-clinical years are essential components of the role.
