Position Title: Social Media Specialist
Location: Rowan University, Division of Marketing and Communications
Reports To: Associate Director of Social Media

Position Overview:
The Social Media Specialist is responsible for managing and enhancing Rowan University's influencer marketing program to drive brand awareness, engagement, and community growth. This role oversees the influencer program, collaborates with an influencer marketing agency to strengthen its reach and impact, and mentors student influencers to create authentic, meaningful content. Additionally, the Social Media Specialist works closely with the Social Media Content Strategist to align influencer-driven content with Rowan’s overall social media efforts. The ideal candidate thrives on creativity, building relationships, and staying ahead of emerging social media trends.

Key Responsibilities:

Influencer Program Management:

  • Oversee Rowan University’s influencer program, managing relationships with student influencers, alumni, and external partners.

  • Collaborate with an influencer marketing agency to strategize and optimize influencer campaigns, including influencer selection, outreach, and performance measurement.

  • Identify and recruit influencers who align with Rowan University’s goals, values, and audience needs.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Rowan University and the influencer marketing agency to ensure alignment on program objectives and execution.

  • Stay informed about social media trends, platform updates, and influencer marketing innovations to keep Rowan’s program at the forefront of the industry.

Training and Development:

  • Train and mentor student influencers, equipping them with tools and guidance to create engaging, impactful content.

  • Educate influencers on best practices in social media, storytelling, and Rowan’s brand standards.

  • Provide ongoing feedback and support to influencers to help refine their content creation skills.

Campaign and Content Integration:

  • Partner with the Social Media Content Strategist and influencer marketing agency to incorporate influencer-generated content into Rowan’s broader social media calendar.

  • Assist influencers in planning and producing content that aligns with Rowan’s campaigns and resonates with target audiences.

  • Coordinate with internal teams to integrate influencer efforts with university-wide marketing initiatives.

  • Support influencer-driven campaigns with clear messaging, creative briefs, and relevant resources.

  • Track and analyze the performance of influencer campaigns, gathering insights to inform future strategies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.

  • 2-4 years of experience in influencer marketing, social media management, or digital marketing.

  • Proven experience collaborating with influencer marketing agencies or external partners.

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, content creation, and influencer strategies.

  • Experience mentoring or managing individuals, particularly in creative roles.

  • Excellent relationship-building, communication, and project management skills.

  • Creative mindset with a passion for storytelling and building authentic connections.

  • Familiarity with social media analytics tools and a data-driven approach to decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience creating content in Higher Education.
