Candidates must possess excellent organizational, time management, customer service, and planning skills. They must be proficient with standard office equipment, including computers, fax machines, copiers, and calculators. Previous educational experience is preferred but not required. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Testing Services.

Position Summary:

The Testing Assistant supports the Assistant Director of Testing Services in administering tests at Rowan University. Duties include managing test registration, fee collection, test setup, results reporting, paperwork completion, and filing, as well as interacting with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Position Duties:

• Administer standardized tests, including Accuplacer, HSRT, CLEP, and other high-stakes exams.

• Provide accommodated testing services for students registered with the Office of Accessibility Services, ensuring ADA compliance.

• Operate platforms such as “InspiroScan”, “RegisterBlast”, “Banner”, and “Accuplacer” to manage test administration and reporting.

•  Process support tickets using the “ServiceNow” platform.

• Monitor the testing environment to ensure compliance with proctoring instructions and Testing Center policies.

• Document incidents such as suspected academic dishonesty by completing testing irregularity forms.

• Interact with students, faculty, and community members to provide information about Testing Center policies and procedures.

• Refer students in distress to the Rowan University Wellness Center, as needed.

• Start and shut down computers and maintain a clean, organized testing environment, including cleaning desks and emptying shredders.

• File completed materials in accordance with established systems and deliver tests to the mailroom.

• Ensure confidentiality and compliance with FERPA by completing required training.

• Collaborate effectively with proctors, professional staff, and the Assistant Director of Testing Services.

• Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities as directed.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Testing Services.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

• Awareness of test security protocols and the importance of maintaining confidentiality.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with the public, faculty, staff, and diverse student populations.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a proactive, self-starting approach to work.

• Ability to follow precise written and verbal instructions accurately.

• Proficiency with standard office equipment, including computers, fax machines, and copiers.

• Strong time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks efficiently.

• Solid command of standard written English for clear communication.

• Basic mathematical skills to support accurate reporting and data handling.

• Flexibility to work evenings and Saturdays with prior notice as needed.

Hours:

  • This temporary, part-time position is assigned no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week. Work is contracted annually to coincide with the fiscal year and is contingent upon budget appropriate.
