Title:             Health Coordinator

Facility:        NMI MAI Grant

Reports To:  Grant Director and Administrator


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Works with medical students and staff in the woman’s unit of a local substance use disorders treatment program to provide HIV and Hepatitis B and C counseling and testing.
  • Ensures clients are linked to medical care.
  • Provides medication adherence and disease self-management counseling.
  • Provides health education groups to clients in collaboration with treatment staff.
  • Performs appropriate follow up with patients to ensure medical needs are met.
  • Collects and enters data in a project database.
  • Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with community service providers and staff at the treatment center.
  • Participates in orientation, basic and advanced training on HIV and hepatis B and C testing.
  • Participates in week continuous quality improvement meetings with the project coordinator and other staff.
  • Understands HIPAA rules as they relate to substance use and HIV status.
  • Exhibits knowledge of cultural differences including socioeconomic factors, cultural traditions, and spiritual beliefs.
  • Performs day-to-day administrative tasks as appropriate.
  • Understands and adheres to Rowan Medicine's compliance standards as they appear in Rowan Medicine's Corporate Compliance.
  • Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all federal, state and Rowan Medicine regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree in Public Health or Psychology, or a related field. One (1) year of health education experience preferred.  Applicants lacking the required degree may substitute appropriate related experience on a year for year basis.

This is a Full-Time, Temporary Grant Funded position.
