Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine is looking for a Director of Clinical Education for the Physician Assistant Program.  The Director of Clinical Education is responsible for the supervision of the clinical education portion of the Physician Assistant Program and reports to the Program Director.

Qualifications

  • Possess a minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited PA program
  • Be NCCPA certified and have or be eligible for current licensure in New Jersey
  • Have a minimum of two years’ experience as a physician assistant in a clinical setting
  • Teaching and administrative experience preferred
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills including good oral and written communication abilities
  • Must have strong organizational skills necessary to develop and implement both short and long-term plans
  • Must be able to oversee multiple different aspects of the clinical curriculum to ensure compliance with ARC-PA standards
  • Must have a familiarity with common office and academic software

Essential Duties and Responsibilities   

  • Clinical site development, including locating prospective sites, recruiting sites, and formulating affiliation agreements 
  • Maintain agreements, required individual site requirements, and certificate of liability with placement sites
  • Obtain, file, maintain, review, and update clinical instructional faculty (preceptors) credentials, certifications, licenses, and CVs
  • Develop and implement mechanisms to recognize clinical affiliate participation in program and educational activities
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clinical preceptors
  • Conduct continuous evaluation of clinical sites, preceptors, and clinical year students
  • Develop and coordinate the clinical year SCPE rotation schedule and assign students to clinical placements
  • Provide orientation to the clinical phase of the program for students and new faculty
  • Conduct and document clinical year student evaluations, progress and remediation, including feedback from preceptors
  • Develop, evaluate, and revise didactic learning outcomes and instructional objectives, examinations, and evaluation methodology/tools, including selection of required texts
  • Monitor the receipt of all clinical evaluations and ensure all documents are filed and final grades submitted in a timely manner
  • Ensure the program clinical examinations and test items are on file and current
  • Chair the PA Program Clinical Year Committee
  • Develop, compile, distribute, review, and update the Preceptor handbook annually
  • Conduct and document clinical year student evaluations, progress and remediation
  • Coordinate, update, and oversee the maintenance, revision, and implementation of all clinical year syllabi
  • Develop, maintain, and revise the PA program curriculum schedule for clinical year students
  • Participate in the development and design of the Physician Assistant Program
  • Course-direct, develop, implement, and analyze graduate level physician assistant courses in the PA program
  • Evaluate student performance as needed throughout the PA curriculum
  • Provide academic counseling of graduate PA students as assigned by the Program Director
  • Assist with and provide remedial instruction throughout the curriculum as assigned by the Program Director
  • Assist with the comprehensive data collection, self-assessment, evaluation, analysis, and implementation of action plans necessary for the ongoing evaluation of the PA program
  • Participate in professional development directly related to PA education
  • Assist with the development, review, and revision of the PA program mission, goals, and competencies.
  • Capstone project advising as assigned by the Program Director
  • Participate in recruitment, screening, and selection of PA student applicants
  • Participate in program, college and university-related search committees
  • Participate in regular faculty meetings, retreats, program, college and university committees, and professional organizations
  • Attend local, state, and national conferences and designated programs pertinent to physician assistant education and practice to enhance teaching, management and/or clinical abilities
  • Engage in scholarly activities, community service, and program related grant or research projects
  • Serve on college and university committees and task forces
  • Maintain membership in national, state and local professional organizations
  • Participate in community service activities and university outreach
  • Assist the Program Director in the coordination and production of information related to program accreditation to ensure the ARC-PA Standards are met and maintained
  • Administrative and other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director

 

NOTE:  Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US, and the University will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.

Salary:

In compliance with the State of New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is $100,055 to $140,000.  Placement into the range is determined by the candidate’s qualifications, professional experience and other factors.
